About Shareware and the Use/Distribution of this Software
First things first: Shareware is NOT Freeware.
Shareware is the old-school name that is similar to the ad-free apps that are prevalent today for phones and tablets. This shareware has no ads, but registering is similar to paying for the ad-free and fully-functioning app version of your favorite game.
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details - some request registration while others
require it, some specify a maximum trial period. Along with the
registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
using the software to an updated program with a printed manual.
This is similar to the free version of an app versus a paid version, but is still slightly different. Shareware is limited to a trial period and if it is continued to be used, it should be registered and paid for (or removed).
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and Commercial software,
and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are often
of comparable quality. In both cases, there are good programs and
bad ones! The main difference is in the method used in the
distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
and distribute the software, either to all or to a specific
group. For example, some authors require written permission
before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
So, Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
has the ultimate money-back guarantee - if you don't use the
product, you don't pay for it.
Euchre Specific
You are granted a license to try this program for a period of 30
days. If you continue to use this program after the trial period
is over you are required to register and obtain the 'retail' verison. By registering, you will receive the latest version of the program with the ability to save ALL settings and No countdown timer on the closing screen. You can install the program on a second computer if you are the main user of both computers and not using them at the same time (e.g. desktop and laptop).
This program may not be sold in any form without the express
written consent from Richard Gardner. If you distribute this
program to friends, a BBS, or another website, you *MUST* do so under it's given
name with all files in their original form!
Please feel free to distribute the shareware version to anybody
and everybody. If you distribute the shareware version, keep all
files in their original form with the program. If you register,
please keep your registered copy to yourself. I worked many hours on this
program (as my wife will testify) and I believe that it is a
quality program and I would appreciate some compensation.
Please register by using one of the easy Registration Options.
